World Health Day

March 20, 2000

World Health Day is observed each April 7 by the 191 countries of the World Health Organization (WHO). “A safe and adequate blood supply for the millennium” has been designated by WHO as the topic for this year’s observance. In the United States the theme will be celebrated as Be a Life Saver – Be a Blood Donor. Blood Saves Lives! In observance of the day President Clinton has urged all healthy Americans to consider taking the time to donate blood, “to discover the joy of giving the gift of life.”
