2001 Mayors Business Council Public/Private Partnership Awards Program Announced

The U.S. Conference of Mayors is pleased to announce that the Mayors Business Council Public/Private Partnership Awards applications are currently available for the 2001 Awards program. Applications have recently been mailed to all mayors and members of the Business Council.
The purpose of these awards is to recognize outstanding public/private partnerships to inspire other cities and companies to work together in improving the quality of life in American cities. Last year's award winners featured exemplary partnerships that have resulted in improved delivery of water and solid waste services, advances in traffic safety and successful downtown redevelopment. Dayton Mayor Michael A. Turner, in partnership with the Home Builders Association of Dayton & the Miami Valley, and Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, in partnership with 3Com, received the top honor: the Award of Excellence.
Awards applications are due on or before October 1, 2000. This year, two Awards of Excellence and eight Outstanding Achievement awards will be presented and the winners will be announced at an awards luncheon during the 2001 Winter Meeting in January.
