What is Cities United for Science Progress (CUSP)?
CUSP is a partnership of The United States Conference of Mayors and DuPont. Its mission is to assist mayors in creating healthier, safer, more innovative and economically vibrant cities through science-based solutions. CUSP achieves its mission by combining scientific resources and educational materials with direct community action.
What is the United States Conference of Mayors?
The USCM is an official non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more that focuses on the development and implementation of national urban policies impacting the sustainable development and growth of cities across the United States.
What is DuPont?
DuPont is a science company. Founded in 1802, DuPont puts science to work by solving problems and creating solutions that make people's lives better, safer and easier. Operating in more than 70 countries, the company offers a wide range of products and services to markets including agriculture, nutrition, electronics, communications, safety and protection, home and construction, transportation and apparel.
What does CUSP make available to cities?
The USCM and DuPont will work to inform mayors across the country of the many opportunities available to them through the CUSP partnership. CUSP is proud to offer cities the following initiatives:
Science in the School Day: Through CUSP's dynamic outreach program, DuPont engineers and scientists team up with mayors to visit schools and help students explore "The miracles of science ®."
Lead-Safe…For Kids' Sake: CUSP grants sow the seeds of innovation and reward outstanding new ideas about and applications of lead-safe practices. By recognizing and honoring mayors' best practices in cities across the country, CUSP is working toward the goal of making America lead-safe.
What does it cost to participate in CUSP?
CUSP initiatives are a resource provided through the USCM and DuPont and are available to interested cities nationwide for no cost.
