U.S. Conference of Mayors, NACo Procurement Program Requests Proposals for Office Furniture Contract

Washington, DC -- The U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance (GPA), in cooperation with Fairfax County, Virginia, is soliciting Requests for Proposal (RFP) from manufacturers and suppliers of systems and freestanding office furniture and related support services for a new national GPA contract. The GPA is co-sponsored by The U.S. Conference of Mayors and the National Association of Counties and has a multi-state Advisory Board which is comprised of twelve City and County Purchasing Agents from across the country. The program is endorsed by the National Institute for Governmental Purchasing (NIGP).

The Request for Proposal, which is specifically designed for the use of city, municipal, county and other local governments across the country was released on July 25, 2000 by Fairfax County. Fairfax County will act as the lead local government agency for the new GPA contract. This will be followed by a pre-proposal conference on August 9, 2000, with proposals due to Fairfax County by August 25, 2000. Awardees of the contract can expect to receive notification around November 2000 by which time it is anticipated that evaluations will be complete. Suppliers and manufacturers responding to the RFP should contact Fairfax County's Purchasing and Supply Management agency for specific time and deadlines.
