Menino to Lead National Housing Forum May 21-22

In his first official meeting as President of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino will lead a National Housing Forum in Washington D.C. on May 21-22, 2002.

The forum will help assemble a diverse national coalition -- including mayors, members of Congress, housing policy advocates, and representatives of the public health, public education, and business communities -- to help address the nationís affordable housing crisis. Mayors will discuss and draft a detailed set of policy recommendations to promote production and preservation of affordable housing and homeownership.

Henry Cisneros, former HUD Secretary and now President of American CityVista, the CEO of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) Bill Novelli and other prominent leaders are expected to speak at the forum. The schedule calls for an evening reception on Monday, May 20, a meeting all day on Tuesday, May 21, and Capitol Hill meetings on Wednesday, May 22.
