MAYORS' SECURITY SUMMIT TO HEAR FROM RIDGE, ASHCROFT, THOMPSON, MUELLER AND GARVEY
100 MAYORS TO GATHER IN WASHINGTON FOR HISTORIC SUMMIT OCTOBER 24-25 AT CAPITAL HILTON

Washington, DC -- Approximately 100 Mayors from across the nation will gather in Washington on Wednesday and Thursday for an historic Emergency, Safety and Security Summit. Joined by police chiefs, fire chiefs, and emergency management officials, the Mayors will discuss -

  • Federal-local cooperation and coordination in the war on terrorism;
  • Recommendations by mayors for the new Office of Homeland Security;
  • Local emergency management preparedness;
  • Transportation security, including aviation, rail, port and ground transportation;
  • Communications and technology issues; and
  • Public health issues.

Only registered, credentialed members of the press will be permitted access to the summit. Registration at the summit will begin at 7:00 a.m. each morning and will require a press identification with photo.
