U.S. MAYORS TO RELEASE ANNUAL SURVEY OF HUNGER AND HOMELESSNESS IN AMERICA'S CITIES

H&H Survey Will Be Accompanied By Collection Of City Strategies To Prevent Homelessness

A 29-city survey on the growth of hunger and homelessness in urban America will be released by The U.S. Conference of Mayors on Wednesday, December 16, at 10:00 a.m. in the fourth floor conference room, 1620 Eye Street, NW. A press conference to release this 14th annual survey will be led by Burlington (VT) Mayor Peter A. Clavelle.

The survey describes demand for emergency food and shelter services, the capacity of the cities to respond, the causes of the problem, the characteristics of those seeking help, the unmet need for services, the funding sources for services, and the outlook for the year ahead. The demand for assisted housing and the capacity of cities to respond is also included. The survey report contains both aggregate data and estimates of individual city conditions.
