Third National Clean Your Files Day Gears Up with Training Workshops To Be Held Around The Country
Washington, DC, October 5, 1998 - Are you struggling to find the document you need because you are digging through those overstuffed file drawers? Plan to spring your office into shape on Earth Day by participating in Clean Your Files Day. Clean Your Files Day, the official Earth Day event of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, encourages cities and businesses to register to participate, clean out their files, and help improve recycling programs at their offices.
In order to reach more cities, businesses, and organizations, we are holding training workshops and conducting presentations at several locations around the country. Workshops and presentations are free of charge and currently scheduled in Austin, Texas; Des Moines, Iowa; Dover, Delaware; Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Los Angeles, California; Lake Success, New York; San Francisco, California; and Wintergreen, Virginia.
During training sessions, U.S. Conference of Mayors Recycling at Work staff will instruct participants on how to organize a Clean Your Files Day event, including establishing local support, fund raising, logistics planning, and media outreach. Participants will receive the Clean Your Files Day Manual, a how-to guide on planning an event, and the Tool Kit, supplying sample press releases, promotional materials, and radio and television public service announcements. Attendees will also hear from cities that have participated in previous events and have the opportunity to share ideas with others in the region. Participants will include city recycling coordinators, local businesses, U.S. Postal Service representatives and other supporters of the event.
For more information about a workshop or to register for the event, please contact Jennifer DeLong, The U.S. Conference of Mayor's Recycling at Work campaign at (202) 861-6776.
