Dear Mayor,

As the economy continues to show weakness and municipal employees face an uncertain future, the importance of retirement savings could not be more prudent. Together with our Deferred Compensation Program partner of more than 30 years, Nationwide Retirement Solutions, we are looking for Mayor’s to support the 2011 National Save for Retirement Week, which takes place Oct. 16-22, 2011. This event is truly a great opportunity for Mayor’s to call city employees to action. To help your city prepare for this week, USCM and Nationwide have put together a toolkit of marketing materials.

We have designed materials to help you as Mayor to:

1. Reach out to your employees to promote the importance and benefits of saving for retirement through a deferred compensation program tailored for public employees;
2. Promote city-sanctioned informational workshops for employees that are conducted by your city's deferred compensation provider

The toolkit, articles, and contact information are available at usmayors.org/saveforretirement. You can download the communication pieces to promote saving for retirement all year long, including enrollment materials, posters, ads, articles, and key fact sheets. I encourage you to check back for updates and new material to help you help your City's employees save for retirement.
