Mayor Mitch Landrieu Will Lead 86th Annual U.S. Conference of Mayors Winter Meeting in Washington, Bringing together Congressional Members, Civil Rights, Business and Community Leaders
January 24 – 26 at the Capital Hilton
Washington, D.C. – Ahead of President Trump’s first State of the Union Address, hundreds of mayors from across the nation will gather for the U.S Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) 86th Annual Winter Meeting in Washington, D.C. to address the state of America’s cities. Led by USCM President New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu, the three-day conference runs from January 24-January 26 at the Capital Hilton and will bring together bipartisan mayors, Administration officials, Members of Congress, business and community leaders to explore innovative solutions for the issues facing American cities today.
With more than 85 percent of Americans living in U.S. metropolitan areas, mayors are on the frontlines of today’s challenges and have consistently called on Washington to draw on mayoral expertise. At the Winter Meeting, mayors from both sides of the aisle, from cities rural, urban and suburban, will hold sessions on a range of issues, including infrastructure, immigration and DACA renewal, the opioid crisis, disaster preparedness and recovery as well as the economic future of cities.
The mayors will hold a press conference on Wednesday, January 24th at 11:30 a.m. ET, where they will discuss the state of the nation’s cities and their priorities.
A draft agenda and list of pre-registered mayors are available here. Members of the media are encouraged to register in advance. See this link. All business/day-time sessions are open to the press unless otherwise indicated. All evening events are closed to the press. On-site registration will be available with current press credentials.
