Important Cares Act Information for Your City and Your Employees
The recently passed Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) has provisions within it to help individuals and businesses, including city employees. Nationwide, a Platinum Partner of the United States Conference of Mayors, has important information about The CARES Act and how it can help your employees. Provisions of the act which affect retirement plans for qualified individuals are as follows:
- Tax-favored Coronavirus-Related Distributions (CRDs) up to $100,000 until December 31, 2020
- Expanded access to loans for 180 days after enactment of the law
- Waiver of 2020 Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs)
Plan sponsors must elect to adopt the special CARES Act relief provisions because they are optional.
Please visit nrsforu.com for additional information about provisions of the CARES Act affecting retirement plans.
